Christmas Party Downstairs
Sneaking away from the rowdy Christmas party commencing downstairs with your love interest. It's been over five hours and you're both too many cups of Aunt Jane's special Christmas cherry punch in to properly judge if sneaking away is an exemplary idea or not. If the punch is to blame in that regard... who's to know? Besides, it's much too late as you're both stumbling up the stairs, using each other and the railing as wobbly leverage, finding the guest bedroom at the end of the hall, and claiming its full-sized bed for your own. The plush quilt sheets and vanilla, lily-scented pillows just might be heaven as you lie side-by-side, listening to the riff-raff of your two families engaging in rigorous conversation downstairs. Small, dopey, inebriated smiles on your faces. Not a care in the sight as the blizzard outside rolls on. Just you and your love, escaping the world...
