Late Night Family X-mas Party
You always looked forward to the family Christmas party. Everyone was there. Both sets of grandparents, all your aunts and uncles, and best of all, all of your cousins. How so many people could be squeezed into one house was astounding. It was late. Dinner and dessert were long since devoured. Presents had been opened and played with. You were curled up on the sofa, the place where you finally collapsed after all the fun and food. The adults stayed up late chatting and drinking, while some of your other cousins still ran through the house, their energy never-ending. The fire burned happily in the fireplace, the tree adorned with too many lights. You were warm, safe, and as you lay there, you listened to the sounds of those you loved the most, all around you. Looking back, it was the best feeling you could ever remember.
